How do I Converting DBF database files to SQL Server 2005 in one step

6
Hi,

At the moment i am converting the files in MS Access then using the SSIS wizard to covert the access files to Server files. This is not very practical for me and I was wondering is there another way to import dbf datafiles.

You can use the DTS Wizard to import a DBF file directly.

Sorry, I'm not into terms.

Right-click your database. Choose Task. Choose Import Data. On the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard, choose the driver for Visual Foxpro....

then follow the instructions...

Am suggesting you use the SQL Server Management Console, not Access. What version of MSSQL are you using?

i have been investigating further and it looks like the easiest method for doing this i must have Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver how do i get hold of that its not on Microsoft's website anymore

If you choose that as your source data in sql 2005, it's already built-in

i got it to work with the odbc driver from the foxpro website and had a problem with the datetime field. Then i realised the files i am converting are not foxpro they are dbase III i didn't realise there was much of a difference
