string or binary data truncated.

hii

My insert quary is giving an error

"Server: Msg 8152, Level 16, State 9, Line 1
String or binary data would be truncated.
The statement has been terminated.
"
What may be the reason of that error.

Your column is too small for the data you are trying to insert.

For example you have a table with a column
Name varchar(5)
You are trying to insert your name in it ‘dreamer247’ in this case you are trying to insert 10 characters into a column that can accept only 5. Server should through you an error and say your data is too long and can not be inserted and this is exactly what you get.

Good Luck.
