varbinary vs image

Hi,
I recently struck upon the fact that sql server uses an image data type.

Until now i have used the BLOB object (varbinary) to store colour objects.

So is there much of a difference between the 2 datatypes?
And Would you be able to use the image to store object types?

thanks

(From SQL Help:)

Important:
ntext, text, and image data types will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using these data types in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use them. Use nvarchar(max), varchar(max), and varbinary(max) instead. For more information, see Using Large-Value Data Types.
