SQL Server 2000 Remote Access

P: 1
HI!

I am using sql server 2000 for database and VB6 as programming language.
my program is working in our LAN.

my problem is when I used VPN connection for the remote offices to the main office the program hangs-up, although I can log-in to the system but when I used a query that should produce results of more than 20000 records, the program hangs-up.

I am using windows 2003 for my VPN server and WINXP for the Remote computers and I am able to connect remotely.

my question is this.
IS MY VPN CONNECTION CAUSES MY PROGRAM TO HANG-UP
OR SHOULD I USE VPN ROUTERS TO SPEED-UP THE CONNECTION?

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE...
