Get Sql Date Format

Hi,

I need to find a way to detect the date format of SQL server... i've tried many ways and searched in many of the system tables but i have not been able to find anything that i can use. The problem of the convert or cast is that it wont recognize the difference between DDMM and MMDD...

If anyone have an idea i could use i would thank you very much...

try using the CONVERT function. it has a style parameter that you can force a format on datefield

Does this help, it formats todays date to include the date and the whole time too.

 CONVERT(DateTime,GetDate(), 103)

You can feed it into a stored procedure like this :

 @Date varchar(10), -- The variable coming into the stored procedure. 
Date = CONVERT(DateTime,@Date, 103) -- The variable into the convert function.

thanks, it helps but it's not just what i need it... i found a way to determine de collate of the server and using that i kind of determine whats the format if YYYYMMDD or YYYYDDMM... thanks any way
