Backup on Network

1
I am using MS SQL 2000 with service Pack 4, on XP Professional PC with NTFS file system.
Now i am facing problem, when i take backup of a DATABASE on networkdevice (created by using "EXEC sp_addumpdevice 'disk', 'networkdevice',
'\\<servername>\<sharename>\<path>\<filename>.bak' ") but when I scheduled the backup it gives the error and not done. Error is
BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE [test] TO [networkdevice] WITH NOINIT , NOUNLOAD , DIFFERENTIAL , NAME = N'test backup', SKIP , STATS = 10, DESCRIPTION = N'TEst bak diff', NOFORMAT DECLARE @i INT
select @i = position from msdb..backupset where database_name='test

Kindly suggest, network path is okay.

Regards
