Login failed for user 'DomainName\shhi'. [SQLSTATE 28000] (Error 18456).

Hi,

I'm trying to run a job. The script contains a code which access remote server. The job fails. The same job when pointed to local server runs successfully.

Error given when execting a job is
"Login failed for user 'DomainName\shhi'. [SQLSTATE 28000] (Error 18456). The step failed."

I've added the remote server as a linked server. Also i can access the remote server's data through query analyser.

please suggest.

Thanks
Shubhangi

Hi,

So you have your SQL server and you are trying to join ? data from a table on another SQL server ? When you select you local DB in Enterprise manager can you see the remote server in the security=>linked servers tab ?

Can you also tell me where you are getting the message from - is it from code thats is running or from a SQL tool ?
