Linux Servers(Usage)

Hey Guys - I was just wondering - if at work you have started to use
Linux Servers - and if so, which Distribution of Linux and for what
purpose. Cheers - Mark Smith

Whatever the purpose might be for running Linux, it is certainly not
running MS SQL Server (which is the focus of this newsgroup), as it
only runs on Windows.

SQL Server does not run on Linux (yet as I believe it is just a matter
of time because when the RDBMS only runs on one platfrom it cuts
marketing prospects) so you are on the wrong group.

However, I will tell you what I do.

We run Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server 2000,2005 applications.

We have Oracle 10gr2 talking on RHEL4. It works well. The application
is Java based.
