Not able to read data from some columns of an excel sheet while using sql server DTS

Hi,
I am not able to see certain columns from the excel sheet when I am trying to load the excel sheet data in to a sql server using SQL server 2000 DTS.

Please let me know if there is any setting or any way by which I would be able to read the data from the excel file regardless of its format.

Please help me resolve this.

Thanks!!

Usually it happens when you try to load for example invalid date into datetime column on SQL server.
I would suggest loading Excel file into work table where all columns are character datatype and then process data into production table by sorting out invalid records.

Good Luck.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion. The problem I am facing is that I am not even able to see the data in the preview section of the transformation for some columns. I suspect its due to the format of these columns. The challenge here is that these files are to be loaded periodically and not as one time load hence I am not able to do any formating manually. I will need to automate these things using DTS. But if I am not able to see the data I am stuck there.

Kindly advice on this.

Thanks!!
