Merge two tables with conditions

Hi all,

I have two tables(A, B), and I would like to attach records from these ones.

Only I have two conditions, else i can use UNION.

1. Condition:
If the value in col2 in A table is in the B table too, then get only the A table value

2. Condition:
If the value in col2 in A table is NOT in the B table, then get the value from B table.

In example:

A/Col2: 1,2,3,4
A/Col3: a,b,c,d

B/Col2: 1,3,4,5
B/Col3: q,c,d,e

And the select result must be:

1a
2b
3c
4d
5e

Is there any short solution??

Select A.Col1,isnull(b.col2,a.col2) from a left join b
on a.col1=b.col1

Thanks in advance, and do you advice, that what I can do, if the two tables is in two different database(DBA,DBB)?
