Sql Server 7 To Sql 2000 Upgrade

Hello

One of our system providers is doing an upgrade to their application which will now run on SQL 2000. Currently it is running on SQL 7 and a NT server. I would like to do an in place upgrade from SQL 7 to SQL 2000 Please help.....

Hi Alwyn,

Are you going to use the same machine for the upgrade? Are you also going to migrate your OS?

If your going to use the same machine simply install the MSSQL 2000 in your machine, during installation there is an option there that would ask you to update the current version of your MSSQL.

If your going to use a different machine install the MSSQL 2000 then restore the backup of your database from MSSQL 7.0.

I suggest that you should also migrate your OS since WINNT is already phase out and no more support from microsoft and to avoid problems.
