what is the system requirement installing ms sql server 2003 client version?

compare to ms sql 2000, the newer version seems to be slow when i try
to open or modify a table. is this a demerit of the newer vesion or my
machine problem?

Hi

What application are you using to do this? How was the database upgraded?

I am using sql server management studio and it was upgraded from sql
2000 enterprise server.
it is slower than sql 2000 enterprise mangement console when I play
with tables.

Hi

I believe Management studio may not perform as well as Enterprise Manager on
lower specification machines, but if you are using the query window the
difference should not be as noticable (if at all).
The system requirements for SQL 2005 are higher than SQL 2000 although these
are listed for the engine not the client tools on their own.

You can find the hardware requirements on this URL in Books Online:

ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v9/MS.SQLSVR.v9.en/instsql9/html/09bcf20b-0a40-4131-907f-
b61479d5e4d8.htm

And, yes, Mgmt Studio may a bit slower for some operations. Then again,
Open Table is an function of dubious value, and Modify Table is outright
dangerous.
