SQL Server 2000 Installation error

Hi,

I was installing SQL Server on my machine and during installation my PC
freezed. It happens frequently on my machine. So i tried after
restarting to install it again and since then i always get the same
error message:
"An error occurred while creating one or more registry entries. Please
see C:\WINDOWS\sqlstp.log for details. The problem could be caused by a
low registry quota condition"
I have tried to clean the registry and i don't know what else i could
do to solve this issue.

The log file lists the following:

I was installing SQL Server on my machine and during installation my PC
freezed. It happens frequently on my machine. So i tried after
restarting to install it again and since then i always get the same
error message:
"An error occurred while creating one or more registry entries. Please
see C:\WINDOWS\sqlstp.log for details. The problem could be caused by a
low registry quota condition"
I have tried to clean the registry and i don't know what else i could
do to solve this issue.

I seem to recall that the SQL 2000 Setup includes a registry-cleanup
option somewhere. Try that one.

And once you have installed - don't forget the latest service pack!

I already tried that option during the installation; namely to switch
to advanced options and rebuild the registery. It fails as well.

Unfortunately, the only recommendation I can give in this situation is
to open a case with Microsoft support. Failed setups is something which
is very difficult to troubleshoot on a distance. I don't run Setup that
often - and most of the time it succeeds.

I tried it out Erland but still the same. Under "advanced options"
there is an option "Rebuild registry" which i chosed, but the
installation fails.
