Does DBCC DBREINDEX update stats?

(Assuming SQL Server 2000, auto create statistics on, auto update
statistics on.)

Does

DBCC DBREINDEX(<tablename>)

update statistics? If yes, are the statistics equivalent to those
that would be produced by:

UPDATE STATISTICS <tablename> WITH FULLSCAN

SQL
DBCC DBREINDEX updates the statistics, while DBCC INDEXDEFRAG does not
