I want to switch to SQL SERVER 2000, Service Pack 4
from Service Pack 3.
So please advice, what all points need to consider.
Also please share the experience, if someone have done the same.
If you have a server with more than 2GB and you use AWE, you should not
install SP4 at this point, as there is a known issue, see
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp4.asp.
Installing the service pack is straightforward and does not require
any special prepartions. For a critical environment, it's always a good
idea to first install in a test environment. A service pack can include
changes to the query processor, so there is always a small risk that
you have some query that gets a poorer query plan. And since we are
talking about an RBDMS this means that one second can suddently become
15 minutes.
