SQL Server Backup Applications

Hi All,
During the past couple of years I have been maintaining the company's
Access databases, in the coming weeks I will be migrating data to SQL
server, I will be using the Access forms as a frontend to access data
while we developed a new front end through VB.Net.

I was wondering if anyone will recommend an application that makes an
exact replica or backup of the SQL server in the case the SQL server
fails. With MS Access, if a record is corrupted we needed to go back
to the previous day backup of the database, we cant afford to have
this issue any longer.

Regards,

John

The best place to start is in Books Online - see the section on
"Backing Up and Restoring Databases", and the BACKUP and RESTORE
commands. If you want to put something in place quickly, you can create
a Maintenance Plan in Enterprise Manager, to backup your databases at
whatever time you want.

MSSQL doesn't often have problems with data corruption, but you can
reduce any data loss by using transaction log backups - see "Recovering
to a Point In Time" in Books Online.

Sounds like you'll want to implement Log or Differential backups. You
don't need any extra software to do this. Backup is built in to SQL
Server. Although there are software packages that will perform SQL
Server backups for you these really just provide a different interface
and additional management features so learn and understand the basic
features first:
