Hi John,
and thank you for your answer
I should say that it is a web servers running database driven
asp.net pages. Does this change your suggestion to put the db
data and logs together with the web application(web root) on e:?
As I said it possible for us to buy another ide hd.
Another possibility we have is to remove the dust from a P3 6-700
MHz / 256 ram computer to hold the database, but I have never
understood the advantages to separate database from other applications
and install it on another server, which I have been reading about.
Thanks again!
Kitty

Hi
If acting as a web server it is not a good idea to install SQL Server on it.
With the hard discs you have it is a compromise configuration, therefore I
would say software on C: and Database Data and Log files on E:

news:61********************************@4ax.com.. . Hi
We have the following setup
W2k server with IIS 5.0
Asus P4P800E Deluxe Mobo
P4 2,8 Mhz - 1 Gb Ram
3 sata harddisks
1 hd = 2 partitions
c: boot/system
f: backup
2 hd's in a raid 1 (mirror) Promise controller
e: webroot
Where would be the best partition to install a MS SQL
2000 databas?
It's possible to install a 4th ide harddisk
