I have Enterprise Manager version 8.0
When I try to register an online databse provided by an ISP I get the
following error message:
"SQLServer does not exist or access denied[]ConnectionOpen(Connect()"
I have tried it many times and checked user name, password, port 1433
(as required by ISP), all to no avail.
I am running SQL Developer and I have no other versions of SQL or MSDE
on my computer,
I would be most grateful for any help than anyone can give in solving
the problem,
Best wishes, John Morgan 2 1171 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;328306
Since the server is at an ISP, the most likely cause is probably
network-related, ie. firewall, name resolution etc. If the article
doesn't help, you're sure your own firewall is allowing you to talk to
port 1433, you're using TCP/IP, and you can resolve the ISP's server
name, you might have to go to them for assistance - their own logs may
have some more information.
Simon
Thank you Simon
This is an issue of some 8 weeks standing and only occurred when the
ISP changed things so that they would only accept connections through
port 1433. I have set up an alias to do this through the Client
Network Utillity
I have tried disconnectiong the firewall and I still have problems.
I will have yet another word with ISP re the logs but I think I will
need to bite the bullet and transfer to another ISP (I do have other
databases with other ISPs and all works fine)
Best wishes, John Morgan
