Merge Replication

P: n/a
I am trying to build a merge replication. I created publisher and
distributer at the same machine. I created PUSH Subscribtion. However,
I am getting an error from Agent
"The process could not connect to Subscriber 'MARSHWREN'."
and from Data Source

"Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'."

If someone can help me to solve this problem I really appreciate it

The SQL Servers need to have security contexts that make sense to each
other. If you leave them running as localsystem you'll get errors like
this. MS recommends you change the services to run as Domain accounts,
with both servers as part of the domain. I have also used local accounts
with identical usernames and passwords with success. I'm not sure exactly
what security permissions need to be set; basically I have both the
MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT services on both machines running as
Domain (or identical local) accounts with admin privledges on both
machines; however this is probably overkill. You can probably get away
with making sure both accounts have run as service permissions along with
permission to any network shares holding snapshots and directories used
by sql server - and this would be more secure.

I'm sure someone else here can give you more detail info but this might
get you going in the right direction.

Is it the same error? Did you make sure the domain account had
sufficient priviledges on each box? "Login failed for user 'NT
AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'." really seems to indicate a security context
problem and that it's not trying to log in as a domain account. Look in
BOL for the sp_adddistpublisher (or MSDN, or just sp_helptext it). This
procedure has some parameters (@security_mode, @trusted, etc) which define
how the authentication should happen. You may need to adjust these values
(or if you are using enterprise manager to set things up, determine how it
is choosing these values and change your use of their wizards
accordingly). Also just for now I would create a local account on each
computer with the exact same name and password and make it an
administrator on each and then set the MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT to
run as that account. This will simplify things and remove any external
variables which could be causing a problem (for instance if your domain
authentication machine was down, or domain permissions misset). Once you
get things up and running you can change it back to a domain account and
straighten out any domain related issues.

Thanks again Dave;

I realized that this error was coming from nature of the replication.
Merge Replication needs to have administrator to be logged on the
machine. So I solved that part. My rpoblem is now I have set up the
replication it is working on the same machine however the problem is
the client machine. We want the client machine to work off line. When I
created the connection to the server it is working as a duplicate, so
if I shut down or close the server I cannot open my subscription
account. I am looking for a solution that if you can help me
appreiciate that
