Howdy, I am having trouble with the objectCategory=group member.Count attribute. I get one of three counts, a number between 1-999, no member (does not contain member property), or 0. Using LDIFDE as a comparison I get the same results. No members means just that, an empty group. Zero means that the DirectorySearcher.SizeLimit has been exceeded....

I'm having a discussion with my colleagues here on good programming standards. One thing we haven't agreed on is the use of properties in classes vs using member variables. Now everyone knows that it is useful to use a property when it has to do some further action on the data such as private double salesAvg; public double SalesAverage { set { salesAvg = value / salesTotal; }

I am an experienced C++ programmer with over 12 years of development, and I think I know C++ quite well. I'm changing jobs at the moment, and I have about a month between leaving my last job and starting my new one. In that time, I have decided to learn C#. I picked up the book, "Programming C# (4th Edition)" recently and have read most of it. I've written about 1,500 lines of C# now, and I've run into the first really ugly thing I...

I'm never quite sure whether to use "this." or not when referring to fields or properties in the same class. It obviously works just fine without it but sometimes I wonder if using this. consistently may make the code easier to understand for someone else, etc. Using "this." makes it immediately clear, for example, that the variable being referred to is a member of the same class and is not declared in the method as a local variable. ...

It looks like the language is trying to prevent me from doing this sort of thing. Nevertheless, the following compiles, and I'd like to know why it doesn't work the way it should: public class ComponentA { static string s_name = "I am the root class."; public string Name { get {return s_name;} } }

Hello, There are a lot of Python mailing lists. I hope this is an appropriate one for a question on properties. I am relatively inexperienced user of Python. I came to it to prototype concepts for videogames. Having programmed in C, scripted in Unix shells, and scripted in a number of proprietary game scripting languages, I'm impressed at how well Python meets my needs. In almost all respects, it does what I've been wishing a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules. He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms. Adolph will...
