Hello all, How can I tell how much memory SQL Server is using on a server. On Windows 2000, whenever I go to Task manager/processes/memory usage SQL Server seems to be showing 1,744,124K. On all of my servers with various size, usage of databases, all of them show SQL Server to be using about the same amount of memory. Can someone explain this to me? Shouldn't it use more for larger databases, heavy hitting databases? Also, I...

Hi!! Years ago I built a database to control the production of a little factory. The users wanted to work in a Windows Net workgroup so I created an mdb with all the tables and data an after that every user had his own mde linked to the main mdb. Year by year, progressively the number of records has been growing and the speed of the application has decreased strongly, because of the grrrreat number of records stored.

We have an odd situation with some of our single-threaded CPU-bound C++ programs. They run between 2 and 4 times faster on Windows XP than on windows Server 2003 on the same Xeon hyperthreading dual processor machine (we borrowed one from our IT department, and have been alternating these two operating systems on it.) Even more odd, if we run a Virtual PC with Windows XP on top of the Windows 2003 Server on the same Xeon machine, the...

In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
