I have a client that requires me to back up his sql7 db to my server and restore it in sql200, then restore it so they can run from my server if disaster hits his server. I have a batch file that runs to securely move data from his server to my server. Now all I need is a way to automate the restore process. I would like to do it all from with in my batch file if possible. Any help would be great.

Hi, guys - looking for a bit of help/advice on moving a database from SQL 7 to SQL 2000. We've a third party application which currently uses a SQL7 database. This database has a number of views which are owned by user INFORMATION_SCHEMA and are set as system tables. This user doesn't actually have a login on the SQL server. We've tried the following to recreate the database on SQL2000, but whatever we try, the views owned by...

Hi, I have been trying to set up an automated restore process from prod to backup server. First, I schedule the full database backup nightly, transfer the backup file and restore it to the database on the backup server. Meanwhile, I leave the database ready to accept transaction log from the transaction log backup at noon daily. And I had used different restore options to test out the transaction that was being applied. And I couldn't...

Hi, Currently, I am on SQL2000 SP3 and Windows 2003. I am trying to restore the full database backup and transaction log backup on the development server. The full database restore is not a problem, but the transaction log restore happened during the day is. Everytime when I try to compare the transaction in the database (select the last update date from one of my table as a benchmark, then backup the transaction log for restore) to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
