How to restore a log? Now we get an error

Hi,

While restoring the log we receive a message after about 30 minutes:

Processed 1152109 pages for database 'restest', file 'sales_Log' on
file 1
Server: Msg 9004, Leverl 21, State 20, Line 3
An error occurred while processing the log for database ' '.

It is unclear why the databasename is an empty string, I guess there must be
something corrupt hereo or a bug.

These are the steps we followed:
- restore database with norecovery (to different database)
- restore the log with recovery

The database stays un-accessable after the restore log, so it seems there
was no recovery done.
When I look at the files I see a restest_Log with about the same size
of the log we try to restore. It is unclear if the restore database
put this file here, or it is created during the restore log.

Someone has a clue?

Regards,

Rene

Not exactly, first of all we are running SQL2000, secondly the message is:
An error occurred while processing the log for database ' '.

There is *no name* of the database. If is was correct it would say:
An error occurred while processing the log for database 'Sales'.

So or some execption occured which resulted in a bug, or the message with no
databaseanme is a standard message from SQL (I won't believe this).

The database was restored with no recovery (and is not accesible), it seems
the log was restored too.

I tried a in time restore, but it takes 30 minutes too before the message
shows up.

Hi , I'm wondering what's going on with a restore I'm trying to do . My DB2 version is a 7.2 on a Linux RH ES 2.1 . I've copy a recent backup that was on NAS for a test on my machine . I then restore the backup without creating a database with the simple command line "db2 restore backup DBNAME".

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
