Need link between MS Excel and MS SQL Server

7 New Member
Hi All,

I am not familiar with MS SQL Server. I have one MS Excel file with datas such as date, name, Address such that. My client given one software to type those datas. The typed datas are stored in one .mdf and one .ldf file. Finally I send this two database files to my client. Now what I need is, a link between MS excel file and .mdf database file. Is it possible? Or any other way is there to transfer data from MS Excel to MS SQL Server Master Database File.
Thanks,

With Regards,

you can also use query to get the data from excel sheet as follows
/* reading data from excel sheet */

sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1
RECONFIGURE
GO
sp_configure 'Ad Hoc Distributed Queries', 1
RECONFIGURE
GO

insert into tablename(col1, col2.....)
select col1,col2.....
FROM OPENROWSET('Mic rosoft.Jet.OLED B.4.0',
'Excel 8.0;Database=fi lepath',
'SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$] where col1 is not null')

NOTE : your excel file must be on your database server

thanks

Hi,

Thank you very much. I import the excel file to my MS SQL Server 2000 .mdf file as per your information.

Now I have one more doubt.

In that database there are so many tables present. User created tables and system tables. I will take care of that user created tables. I import the data from excel file to .mdf file instead of using my client's customized tool. If my client have chance to find, all the data had entered are import from excel instead of using customized tool?
If yes where can see that details?
Can I change that data in system created table?
Thanks,

I'd love to hear some expert opinion on my situation. My department relies on Excel as a database, which causes crashing due to resource depleting and basically is just too slow. For example, a user must open seven Excel workbooks so that each can lookup values in the other to rollover into a separate "summary" workbook. Obvious problems there. What is your opinion on how this SHOULD be configured? They suggest using Access initially,...

Hello, I created a simple dll in VB2005 to use ADO.Net -- oleDBDataAdapter to write data to an Excel file. The code (below) works fine from an Excel file (invoke the dll from Excel to write to another Excel file) But if I run the same dll (tlb) from MS Access - I get an error that I need to use an updateable query. Why does the following code work fine in Excel but not in MS Acces? Maybe because Excel doesn't use Jet? Any...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
