flattening multiple source measurements into a single fact record

1 New Member
Hi,

Does anybody have any design ideas for flattening multiple measurement records into fact table columns.

Our current design imports the measurement records into a staging table and then uses a set of mappings to select the appropriately grouped measurements into the correct structure for inserting into the fact table.
The source measurments are identified by a business ID and they are mapped to different columns in the fact table. ie. measurement ID 001 maps to the GrossSalesValue column in the fact table. Obviously, the source records need to be grouped by the dimension keys when we make the extraction from the staging tables.

I imagine this to be a fairly common problem in most BI solutions so I'm sure there are plenty of suggestions out there to deal with it. :-)

Thanks

Hi, I'm trying to understand a situation where ASP seems to be "blocking" of "queuing" requests. This is on a Win2K Advanced Server, with IIS5. I've seen some posts (e.g., http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=Tidy7IDbDHA.2108%40cpmsftngxa06.phx.gbl) that indicate that ASP will queue up requests when they come in with the same "session".

I'm working with an HR system and trying to deal with an XML document that contains a bunch of personal data (unique to the person) and one or more sets of job data (a person can be hired more than once), all expressed in a single XML document. I want to flatten out the multiple job data parts by building a much larger XML document. (This may not make sense by itself, but it's part of a larger project.) Dummying up an example to...

Can you do a search for more that one string in another string? Something like: someString.IndexOf("something1","something2","something3",0) or would you have to do something like: if ((someString.IndexOf("something1",0) >= 0) || ((someString.IndexOf("something2",0) >= 0) ||

I have 2 tables: Table1 and Table2. Neither one has a primary key because each table will only have 1-record. My form is a SingleForm unbound with tabs (my desire here). Using this form, in the Record Source I originally had the statement TABLE1, and all worked fine. Now I want to open the second table as well, and this is where my problem is.

In one of the applications I am developing I have need of working with numbers in varying unit system. I might be adding 5 mil to 1 inch or whatever. What I have come up with works really well, however...it moves about as fast as a honda civic trying to tow a semi truck. The basic definition looks like this: public struct ScalarGeneric : IScalar

Hi, Given a large ascii file (delimited or fixed width) with one ID field and dimensions/measures fields, sorted by dimensions, I'd like to "flatten" or "rollup" the file by creating new columns: one for each combination of dimension level, and summing up measures over all records for a given ID. If the wheel has already been invented, great, please point me in the right direction. If not, please share some pointers on how to think

I have coded multiple select statements in a single stored procedure, and when I execute this procedure on SQL Server Management Express, I correctly get multiple result sets. But, if I try to add a new Data Source to to my VB 2005 project, and point to this stored procedure, the data source wizard only sees the 'first' select statement. Is there a way to load multiple tables in a DataSet from a single stored procedure with multiple...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
