I don't know if this can be done. If it can, you will need to make sure that both are configured to listen on different port numbers, as well and ensure that they are being installed in different locations using different databases.

What requirements do you have that you need to install two SQL Servers on the same machine?

Ok I have been slowely - and ever so slowely teaching myself VB.net Currently I have created an MDB file by code, and added fields to the MDB file by code. I like this solution because, ( im assuming ) if I create an EXE and I load an MDB file, I can see if certain fields are there, and if not add them. Kinda like an Update that is imbeded into the EXE, so you dont always have to create an Install shield.

I have SBS2003-SP1 (with MSDE) installed. I have read several "How-To's" on upgrading MSDE to 2K5Express, but none have directly answered the SBS2003/MSDE install scenario: is MSDE a "module" of Sharepoint/SBS- Monitoring, or is it an MSI install, brought in with the OS install? The How-To's state that if you can see it in Add/Remove programs, then it is an MSI install and 2K5Express will see it and upgrade it and the databases as...

I recently purchased a good MS book ("Build a Web Site Now") by Jim Buyens. It has the Express Edition of MS-Visual Web Developer 2005 on CD and also MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on the CD. A couple of questions for this newbie: Can MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition be used in place of the older MSDE product for backend database work? I also have Visual Studio .NET (VB) 2003 (Standard Edition). How compatible are all these products...

I posted this in one of the VB forums but I'm starting to think it might be more appropriate to have it here, since it really seems to be a SQL server (MSDE/Express 2005) problem: Hey, all, I have a problem with queries against a SQL server instance that I just found and is causing me fits. I hope someone can point me in the right direction, please. TIA. Basically, I got a Vista OS machine to test my VB6 app on it as some

Hello, all, I started out thinking my problems were elsewhere but as I have worked through this I have isolated my problem, currently, as a difference between MSDE and SQL Express 2005 (I'll just call it Express for simplicity). I have, to try to simplify things, put the exact same DB on two systems, one running MSDE and one running Express. Both have 2 Ghz processors (one Intel, one AMD), both have a decent amount of RAM (Intel system...

Just wondering if this is possible, I'm coding this application that will run on a network with a SQL Server 2000, however each workstation (notebook computers in this case) will need to copy some of that data locally to a SQL 2005 Express instance. On the computer I'm developing on I'd like to have an instance of both MSDE and SQL 2005 Express running so I can replicate the network as close to possible while writing code. Alternatively I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
