wild characters in stored procedures with parameters?

3 New Member
Hello everyone,

i wonder if someone can give me some idea how and what is the right way to use wild characters in stored procedures with parameters...
Assuming that
@searchs_text is the parameter...
this:

WHERE last_name LIKE '%' + @search_text + '%'

seems does NOT work..

any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

thank you!

hmm...
create your stored procedure like this:
create procedure searchaddrs @addrs varchar(20) = '%Av%'
as select name, city, addre ss from profile where address like '%Av%'

you can always override the default value by giving the desired one in the exec procedure statement.
hope this will give the desired output.

You hardcoded where condition and it probably searched the same all the time.

Change to this:

create procedure searchaddrs @addrs varchar(20) = '%Av%'
as select name,city,addre ss from profile where address like '%' + @addrs + '%'

I've got a webpage that calls some stored procedures with input variables. The procedures return recordsets and also some output variables. We're trying to get the values of the output variables. I've done this using the method I found in MSDN, as shown in the code below. The problem is that we believe doing it this way involves the use of the Microsoft Transaction Server (IIS transaction server). Is this true? (The SQL Server and IIS...

I use a stored procedure that is calling several other stored procedure which update or append values in several tables. All of them are stored procedures with input parameters by which they filter rows to be updated or inserted into other tables. Filtration is based on certain actual values on forms (form with several subforms). My question is following: How to pass parameters to those stored procedures that are triggered by a button?...

Hello, I can't figure out why my parameterized query from an ASP.NET page is dropping "special" characters such as accented quotes & apostrophes, the registered trademark symbol, etc. These symbols insert without problem from query analyzer, so that suggests it's something within ASP.NET. I've tried using .NET textbox web controls as well as html textareas. I have a test database set up with 4 fields: varchar, nvarchar, text, and...

The purpose for my questions is accessing these technologies from applications. I develop both applications and databases. Working with Microsoft C#.NET and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Production and 2005 Test Environments. What is the purpose of a view if I can just copy the vode from a view and put it into a stored procedure? Should I be accessing views from stored procedures?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
