Running a SQL server 2005 job remotely thru an AS400 program

4 New Member
We have an As400 system that has program which executes batch files which resides on the SQL server 7.0 computer . Those batch files run SQL server jobs
using isql. The whole idea about this is when ever some jobs will run on As400 to populate some files the program will be called to execute the batch files which will run the sql jobs to populate sql tables. This process working fine. But now we have installed SQL 2005 and trying to move . Before actually moving I am testing by moving one job and the batch file and creating one test As400 program that will execute that batch file. The batch file uses SQLCMD to run a job. When I try to run that batch file locally it works fine. But when I am trying to execute that batch file remotely thru the AS400 program it doesn't work. If I include some non-sql command in that batch file and execute that batch file remotely it runs those commands but does n't execute the sql commands.
The user_id and password the remote command uses has all the appropriate rights. Also I changed the settings of the sql server (as per the msn guide) to accept remote commands. still it does n't work. Can any one please suggest something ? Thanks in advance for your help..

Can anyone help me understand what it takes to define a Linked Server connection to an IBM eSeries (AS400)? Do I need Microsoft's SNA Server or some other product or can I simply do it with the tools provided with SQL Server 2000? Any guidance would be very appreciated. Thanks. Farid

Hi, I have created an application that uses IIS to host remote components. All the remote components are listed in app.config in client and web.config in server. Now the app.config can contain either localhost name/IP address to point to remote component like <wellknown type="XYZ, XYZ" url="http://localhost:80/XYZ" />. Remoting configuration is done using RemotingConfiguration.Configure("XYZ.exe.config") in application's main method....

HELP - Need to connect to DB2 database on AIX from NT server. Also AS/400 from NT Server -- I am experienced in ORACLE and a novice at DB2. What tools would be the equivalent of Net*8 or SQLNET in ORACLE that would allow me to connect to a database on a remote box (either AIX or AS/400)? I have read that DB2 Connect appears to be the ticket for the Db2 server if it is on AS/400 or OS/390. What if it is on AIX? Does the same tool...

i just noticed the website i created in VS 2005 is running on a different port than the default. I see that it is running on the local web server, and also that the website i created isn't in IIS. My crystal report looks weird because it is trying to show images from the crystalreportviewers10 virtual directory based on the current website running, which in this case is localhost:1169, but actuall the crystalreportviewers10 virtual...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
