Do you have any experience with Research and Development offices abroad?

I am thinking to open an office with developers not in the USA to save lots of money. I think they are called R&D or offshore offices.

Has anybody done that or maybe worked for such company?

well - yea i have experience with such and i can assure you that you probably save much less then 'lots of money' if you save anything at all. All depends on what you really want to have done offshore - no matter if you would work with contractors or open your own office.
