What programming language? Is html5 powerful enough?

Hello, what programming language would be used these days to program an online software, very much like this in principle:

Would HTML5 is enough to learn & how much time I would have to invest into learning it - to be able to build something like this?
(I have an quite good understanding how programming works and got most of the algorithms and formulas written out of what I think I would need.)

Thank you.
