How to recover corrupted Word file?

P: 1
I am using Office Standard 2007. I can't open Word file - it says "the File is damaged and cannot be opened", then "Microsoft Office cannot open this file because some parts are missing or invalid."
Please help. Thank you.

If Word cannot open it, you are 'out of luck'.

Best way to get back is return to a recent backup.

If a recent backup does niet exist, you can try open the .docx with 7-zip. (a docx file is a compressed file!..)

In the file you should find a folder 'word', in that folder should be a 'document.xml'.

If you do not have a lot of formatting, than I might be possible to get some text out of this file, no guarantee that this will word!
