Bespoke Software Development

Hi all,

I hear the word "Bespoke Software" a lot.

What is the difference between Bespoke Software and other Software Development?

Thanks

is a type of software that is developed either for a specific organization or function that differs from or is opposite of other already available software (also called off-the-shelf or COTSsoftware). It is generally not targeted to the mass market, but usually created for companies, business entities, and organizations. Custom software is also when companies or governments pay for customized software for budget or project managing.

Found this information by preforming a simple Google search. I suggest you try this in the future. Thanks.

Bespoke software is the same as "custom software". It's a type of software that is built either for a specific company or function. It is usually used as opposed to off-the-shelf software (like those you buy on the software stores).

In terms of development, it follows the same rules and principals of any other software development. Check this on wikipedia or other websites.

We do bespoke software. Basically with bespoke or custom software you get software to suit your needs whereas with an off-the-shelf package or off-the-shelf you get what you bought.

Bespoke software can be built from the ground up but more commonly uses some sort of Rapid Application Development platform to speed up the process. You don't want to do everything from scratch.

You can also get a hybrid version of bespoke and off-the-shelf so that you start with a package and end up with something changed to suit you. It's a bit like having a custom spec on a mass-produced car. Note that this has all the drawbacks that that situation might have. If you twist a package to do something it doesn't want to do, you are usually in trouble.

Bespoke software should not be confused with configured software which is where someone installs a package and then makes changes to settings to suit a company.

Please be aware that advertising your company or website in links in not allowed. I'll let it slide this time because you made a relevant post and snuck a little plug in there but further offenses probably wont be allowed.
