I have been using Visual Studio 2005 on Vista for a number of months. I have observed the following problem which I am wondering if anyone else has come across as well.
You can start VS2005 with regular or admin privilages. Some applications (such as ASP.NET with IIS) require you to start it in admin mode. When running in admin mode, Vista blocks all script executions. So if you have javascript in your app, it won't run in the debugger.
My work around has been to start the app outside of the IDE and then attach to the process.
Another side effect is that if VS2005 is running in admin mode, I cannot create a new project because project templates are HTML pages subject to same restrictions. That is, the project properties dialog becomes non-functional. My work around has been to run VS2005 without admin rights for project creation.
I am wondering whether this behavior is common or something is not right with my Vista setup.
