Hi
I just started my career as .Net Programmer. Now I am little bit confused. What is the correct path to become a good programmer. Where should I start. Which one is important ? c# learning or ASP.net? Can anyone tell me how can I become a good programmer? Where should I focus?

Focus on the tutorials and walkthoughs first. Try looking for some virtual labs to work on.

ASP.NET or C#?

The answer is yes.

It will be hard for you to develop a web application using ASP.NET without knowing either C# or VB.Net for the code behind. you will also need to know at least 1 of these languages in order to code the business and data tiers on an enterprise projects. Most of these will be using 3 tier architecture.

Here's the plan that worked for me. I had no work experience (not even any "out of school projects) when I got my current job.

I watched monster.com and dice.com for my local area for a while to find the languages that were most in demand.

I settled on C#.

There were no C# classes taught in my area, so (since it is similar to Java) I took a class in Java and paralleled the class assignments in C#. It's twice the work, but worth it.

After you complete that class, take one in ASP.NET and start trying to get a job anywhere you can. Make A's in your classes and rely on your professors recommendations. With no work experience, this will be the key to getting an offer.

If you have time, learn some SQL. There are many good tutorials on the internet. I recommend going to w3schools.com and running through theirs.

If money is limited, download the express versions of visual studio and sql server 2005 and start writing programs.

A good practice program would be to write a C# or ASP.NET application that is a User Interface for an address book. Make it so the addresses and contacts are stored in a sql server database.

Resources:
Google, use the phrase "how do I". Most of the problems you will run into have already been solved by someone else. This will teach you how to adapt their code to meet your needs. No reason to reinvent the wheel.

That's a full plate right there.By the time you get all that done, you will hopefully have a job and know the next step.

Focus on fundamentals of C#, database connection method and then practice programs related to collections, Interface, Type and Inheritance. For ASP.net , refresh the ASP.Net life cycle, postback, viewstate and configuration file and its settings. Actually, it needs more practice and then debugging to learn depth progamming. Donot give up.
Best of Luck
