Setting permission for different users with multiple roles..

I would like to get idea for setting permissions in my applications..i have come with the idea of user types from my peers but sight overheads..i am involoved in building an ERP software..Please give me idea for this..

u never mentioned what is the language u are using and not even the database.

do u need to implement the level at application level or at database level.

please go on and pass few more details.

You could have a group-based access. You can setup groups such as Administrator, Moderator, User and etc, where every single group would have it's own access level and permissions. You could also have an access list of some sort. Say, if you're designing this for an intranet web application, you could have a list of accessible pages which could be assigned to different groups. Something like this... shouldn't be hard to do. Most of it is properly setting up the database.
