Generics + OODMS=Match

I may be way off here but I like to philologize anyway.

Recently I've been learning about Java Generics. Then I got to thinking about how object databases haven't cought on.

Obviously one reason is realational databases have been used for years, and are "Tried & True.".

Then when I think on an object database and how encapsulation being a coner stone of OO. to thiink of obvious way for that such a database could provide such a inherent abilitty to enforce data integrity as a realational data

I can see how that can be perk, especialy for languages Java that has exception handing to take advatage of the vaildation it does buy only handle database errors.

but now we have generic can't we use parametrized generics to ensure we getting the correct object and respond accordingly?
