Dear Sir,

Currently I use Clipper 5 for for developing customised accounting software (DOS based). Now I want to use windows based language. I want to know:

1. Can I make an accounting software in C#.
2. What will be the other requirements.
3. Which database will be suitable for it.
4. Suitable book for it alongwith examples to achieve the above requirements.

Kindly explain me in detail.

Hi All, Our company is currently evaluating Python as a language for writing financial/accounting type software (among others). What libraries or packages are available in this domain for use? I've had a look at Quantlib, but it doesn't seem like exactly the type of library we're interested in. The programmers are looking for something that can be used as a General Ledger, or be used to implement a General Ledger.

Our SOHO 2 person compay sells furniture (not programmers). In '98 we paid $,$$$ for a VBA -Access '97 accounting application, including VBA source code .... an huge investment for us then (and now!). The application publisher went belly up years ago. Over time we've made a number of VBA code changes (< 500 lines total). Now our CPA is urging us to switch to Quickbooks Premier for Contractors at a cost of $,$$$ plus data entry. Argh, no...

I am looking for an open source accounting application written in C#. I have looked at maybe doing something with Accounting Express, but I wanted to know some opinions. The reason I am looking for open source is that this package is the same as every other package except some of the rules and deductions are very particular to these clients. The clients are mainly government employees so the package needs to except all the weird...

Hi, I am working as an IT manager at a small manufacturing business right now. They are currently using an archaic dos based accounting system. They have been using the same system for over 10 years, and they get by with it but they see it's time to update. They are also using a very outdated inventory management system. I have proposed bringing in a complete ERP solution for them, and they are very into it. The only problem we're having...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
