How to rank my business website in search engines?

We just launched a small business website. It looks good, but worried it might have all the right stuff to be ranked in the search engines.

Was looking for advice and tips on what to get it search engine ready? Just the basics, a list of what one should do. Like a starting point of sorts.

That's good that you started your own website.
I would recommend you to
1. learn how Google works
2. make sure Google knows about your site
3. Influence your site's listing in search /meta tags/
4. Create great content
5. Images and video
6. Connect with Google+

If it is interesting for you I can give more information.

Hello, I own a seo company in Florida. We have been very successful in getting local small business to page 1 of Google Yahoo and Bing. Here is a basic list of to do items that you should do:
  1. Use Wordpress
  2. Install a SEO Plugin
  3. Create all seo friendly url's
  4. Create Sitemap

  6. Write all original and Unique content
  7. Create fresh pages or posts regularly
  8. Utilize all on-page techniques (Title tag, meta desc, H1-H6, keyword placement, enough text, no blogroll or footer links, use various forms of your keyword, and there's a lot more
  9. Use good internal linking structure
  10. Easy to navigate
  11. Once you have the on-page done (which is your foundation), then proceed to the off-page seo
  12. Start building quality links

I'd look up "beginner SEO" on Google to read about on-page factors that are important. You'll need to make sure that title tags, H1 tags, and content all align around the topic you're looking to rank for as a start.

If you want to rank your business website on Google, first of all you need to understand the behaviour of search engine, then you can optimize the on-page of your website by embedding keywords and following those keywords you can do off-page optimization.

Do three things:
  1. Tell the truth.
  2. Keep each page on one topic per page.
  3. Do not even slightly use ANY SEO tactics

SEO help might get your page banned from the top 1,000 listings on Google for as much as a year at a time.

As Google continues to improve its algorithm consistently, SEO policies need to be adjusted accordingly to rank your page higher in the SERP’s. To rank your website, you need to do Keyword Research, Page speed optimization, Promote your content via link building, Optimization via Google Analytics, and Google Search Console.
