Try the Meta:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.
  2. <-- For speakers of US English -->
  3. <META name="keywords" lang="en-us"
  4. content="vacation, Greece, sunshine">
  5. <-- For speakers of British English -->
  6. <META name="keywords" lang="en"
  7. content="holiday, Greece, sunshine">
  8. <-- For speakers of French -->
  9. <META name="keywords" lang="fr"
  10. content="vacances, Grèce, soleil">
  11.
  12.
I must say however, I have not tried this for JSPs as of yet, but, adding items such as the above and making sure you post your site to a wonderful search engine will get you first in line:-)

Meta listings will allow search engines to find your site when items you have on your site are added to seach boxes.

This may also be a something to ask in the HTML forum, as said, I have not yet tried this for JSPs.

I found the following suggestions while googling topic.
The answer is not my own but was provided by "Joel Coehoorn"
  • Use "search engine friendly" URLS, i.e. use "example.com/pages/45-article-title" instead of "example.com/index.jsp?page=45"
  • Don't use links that say "click here". You're wasting an SEO opportunity and it makes things harder for people with screen readers.
  • Have an XML sitemap
  • Use <link rel="canonical" ... /> when you have multiple urls that point to the same content
  • Use Google Webmaster Tools and Yahoo Site Explorer
  • Install Google Analytics right at the start
  • Know how robots.txt and search engine spiders work
  • Rewrite requests asking for yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com to prevent splitting the google ranking between both sites
  • Know that there can be bad behaving spiders out there
  • If you have non-text content look into Google's sitemap extensions for video etc.

Since this question has nothing to do with Java, I have moved it to the Misc. forum.

Hi there,

To be honest with online marketing there is no quick gains or special code that you can input to ensure first page rankings, if there is then these will probably be 'black hat'.

I strongly suggest that you you ensure that the website(s) that you create all have a 200 HTTP Status Code on each page. In addition to this I would ensure that the website has an optimised 404 page, this basically means that you create links on the 404 page so that if a visitor finds a dead page or a bot does then they can continue on your site.

Once you have done this I would then make sure that the website only has one URL per page (website wide duplication), the most common is www.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com.

Once you have done completed the above then you need to ensure that each page has a selected keyword(s) that it is targeting which are used within the content, URL and the page title.

Note with keywords that these should be different on every page and I would strongly suggest to go for keywords that are NOT to competitive.

Once you have done this I would create a sitemap and submit to Google and Bing.

The final advise I would give would be to create a blog which you use for organic linking and also a facebook and twitter account to attract targeted traffic to your site.

What I suggest you do:
Find expired domain with Pr3+ and purchase it.
Redirect that domain to the site that you are trying to rank
Create micro sites (wordpress.com, blogspot etc.) and post at least 1-2 articles per week on them. Make sure all the articles are unique and human readable.
Insert the max 1-3 links in your articles pointing back to your site.
Create xRumer blast to your microsites.

That should do it.

Hi techguy,

You have to start with the basics:
Create a good site.
Create a sitemap and submit it.
Crate a robots.txt file to block certain pages from being indexed (user log in or tags / categories pages)
Utilize Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics.
Make sure you tell Google what URL you are using, such as http://www.site) or (http://site), basically picking if your using the www or not.
Write good title tags, using the keyword you are trying to rank for in them.
Write a good meta description, attracting searchers to click on the link.
Start to build good quality links.
Make sure to completely diversify your link profile, as the last thing you want is your brand new site to bet penalizes or de-indexed.
Use social media to drive traffic to your site. Social Media does not necessarily boost your rankings, but it drives traffic, which in turn if people share your site or pages, tells Google that your site is worthy and can become a authority in your industry.

Once you have completed the designing and development part of the website, the essential map is to create a site map for your website, so that google crawlers can find your site and index accordingly. After this, try to list your website on various websites, create backlinks, reach the target audience through the social media marketing, do content marketing by creating blogs, guest post and web 2.0 post!
