how to run matlab command on matlab command prompt using Python...?

Hi,
I am doing a project in Python, I want to open Matlab through it then one model and after opening that model I want to apply hilite_system on that model to hilite any sub-system of model.
I got solution to open Matlab using Python as:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. import subprocess
  2. subprocess.call('matlab');
  3.  
if you run this script in python it will open Matlab,
now how to open model and how to execute a matlab command on matlab command prompt I dont know....
Can anyone help me on this.....
