What computer specs are nessessary to use python 3.1

I am a wana be programer getting started and was not able to download python 3.1 to my computer. Asumming i need anouther computer what specs are nessessary for python. Trying to keep this as inexpensive as possible. Thanks for helping a newbe. Any help and direction would be appreciated.

Mike, what happens if you open a shell and type:

python -V[enter]


If you get Python 2.x, you're ready to go right now. You don't need v3.

I don't think that your machine has anything to do with it. I have heard of people running Python on a P-133 with 32 mb of Ram. Far less than the lowest machine sold today.

What is going wrong and what errors are you seeing that lead you to believe its not working? Also, take Benno's suggestion and let us know what you see.
