installing mysqldb module in python

Hi all
Can anyone please help

I am trying to install mysqldb module in python to interface with mysql on my desktop but I cannot find a clear instructions to do so
I downloaded sourceforge.net paackage for mysqldb and try to run setup.py install and i get cannot find or do not have setuptools module
Can anyone tell me how to do or wher to find straight forward easy install instructions
I have mysql 5.1 and py 2.6.1

If setuptools is the problem you could get it from here
BTW what is the operating system that you are using ?

I ran the ez_setup.py an it seems to install the setup tools and got me by that hitch - However now I am getting - serverkey= _winreg.OpenKey(_winreg.HKEY_Local_Machine, options['registry_key']) .... a windowserror message [error2] the system cannot find the specified file appears to happen during the execution of the setup_windows.py script which seems to be kicked off by the ez_setup.py script .... any idea how to fix this and hopefully no more problems
