In addition, look at the sspi package in the latest
pywin32 releases. There some sample code in
the demos area there, too. Haven't used it myself
(and I know it's messy) but I'm sure someone must
have.

Here's a library that can be used to handle the NTLM
authentication stuff:

http://josefsson.org/libntlm/

There's no reason you couldn't translate it into Python (or
just call it).
