how to ask questions

I'm new to programing and am attempting to learn Python from the Python Programming for the Absolute Beginner book. I am using Python on an Ubuntu system and using emacs as my editor.
If I have a question, should I simply post the code I'm having trouble with along with the error Python gives? Or is there a better way?

Yes, that's (generally) the best way. Read these Posting Guidelines and figure out what you can/should post based on those. The link may be from the C/C++ forum, but the rules are global in scope.
