compiling plpython compilation error

Hi all. Im having a hard time trying to compile the plpython package.
This is the error make gives me:

/usr/lib/python2.5/config/libpython2.5.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

This runs on OpenSuse 10.3.
python 2.5
postgres 8.2.5 ( and 8.3.0)

Any clues?
