Disapearing Icons from a Label Frame!

Hi,
I wrote a small part of a larger program, and oddly enough, when i try to run it, the icons spontaneously appear and disappear when i mouse over them.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. background_img = Image.open('icons\\background.bmp')
  2. background = ImageTk.PhotoImage(background_img)
  3. buttons = Label(root, image=background, height=100, width=400)
  4. buttons.pack()
  5. exitB = Button(buttons, width=32, height=32, image=exit_Button, text="Exit", command=root.quit).pack()
  6.
I'm using Label() instead of Frame() because i need a background picture on the frame that holds the buttons. I'm running Python 2.5 on Windows XP sp 2.
Thanks A lot.
