accessing xml data using python

could some1, please, in the simplest language possible tell me how to do this?

i know the topic already exists, but im really new to python, and never done anythin with xml, i dunno what kind of syntax or anythin about it,

all i want is to write data that i get in python to an xml file, as a table or so, and be able to retrieve the entries i want , also from the xml file, into a plugin using python,

could someone explain this in the simplest way possible,??

thnaks a lot everyone

I suggest that you learn XML first. There are numerous online resources on XML.

A Technical Introduction To XML
XML Tutorial

Next you need to learn about the Document Object Model (DOM) or Simple API for XML (SAX)
I am trying to learn about these subjects myself.

u can insert as well as extract data from xml file using xml.dom.minidom -- Lightweight DOM implementation. Its relatively easy to understand from the links given below, they have also given examples :-

http://docs.python.org/lib/module-xml.dom.minidom.html
http://www.boddie.org.uk/python/XML_intro.html

These links i have got by searching in google...
