xmpppy & gtalk

everywhere i look, the only example i can find on how to use gtalk with xmpppy is how to send a message, which does no good unless you can recieve... anyone have any thing?

I think your searches may be too refined. GTalk's protocol is simply Jabber, so if you can find instructions for doing so with Jabber (should be pretty easy, that's the point of the toolkit) then it should work fine for GTalk.

but the example scripts on xmpppy's sourceforge site have broken links

ok, i found one, just one last quick really important question... does this require ssl? or any authenication protocol?

A quick Google search for "GoogleTalk SSL" seems to imply you will.
