formatting text

I am creating files in a directory and they need to be formatted by month/day format, but I haven't figured out how to format text so that it always shows four numbers.
Can anyone help me out?

I'd use strftime() from the datetime module.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. import datetime
  2.
  3. seed_date = datetime.date(2007,01,01)
  4. td = datetime.timedelta(1)
  5. fileList = [''.join((seed_date+td*i).strftime('%m%d'))+'.txt' for i in range(365)]
