Low level Python documentation / references

Hey all,

I'm writing a "homework", and I'm supposed to explain how Python works
from the inside, like how it's virtual machine works, the bytecode
generation works, but I'm not having any luck at find those kind of
documentation.

Is there anyone out there who could help me out? maybe some low level
documentation, or some references I could read, anything would be of
great help.

Forgive my bad english, but I try my best.
